Home battery storage that fits the house you actually have

We fit the Fox ESS range — single-unit all-in-ones, stackable towers and wall-hung packs — sized from your bills rather than a brochure. With solar, it stores the surplus you would otherwise sell for pennies. Without it, it charges cheap overnight and runs the house through the expensive hours.

Why it changes the sums

A battery moves electricity from when it is cheap to when you need it

With solar

A south-facing array generates most in the middle of the day, when most homes are empty. Without storage, that surplus goes to the grid for a few pence a unit and you buy it back at full price in the evening. A battery keeps it. The solar page goes through the self-consumption split in detail — the short version is that storage is what turns a good array into a good bill.

Without solar

Time-of-use tariffs sell overnight electricity at a fraction of the daytime rate. A battery charges in the cheap window and discharges through the expensive one, every day, all year. It is the case that works in January when a solar array is doing very little, and it is why Fox’s AC-coupled inverter and the plug-in MiniQube exist.

What it will not do

A battery does not make electricity, it shifts it, so the saving is capped by how much of your use can be moved and by the gap between your cheap and peak rates. We will show you both numbers before you commit, and we will say so plainly if the maths does not work for your house.

Every figure here is from Fox’s own datasheets and UK warranty policy. Where a product is not named in the warranty table we say so rather than guess.

All-in-one systems

Fox ESS Evo AIO

Evo AIO

Inverter and 10 kWh battery in one wall-mounted unit

The Evo puts a hybrid inverter and a 10.24 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery in a single slim unit that hangs on the wall like a boiler. One box, one install, and it keeps essential circuits running in a power cut.

  • 10.24 kWh battery per unit, expandable
  • Hybrid inverter built in
  • IP66 — can be sited outside
  • Backup (EPS) output in a power cut
  • Up to 97.6% conversion efficiency

Suits: Most three- and four-bed homes wanting a tidy single-unit install with backup.

Fox UK warranty: 12 years or the energy-throughput cap, whichever first (EVO10)

Fox ESS PowerQ AIO

PowerQ AIO

Stackable storage from 9.84 to 29.52 kWh

A floor-standing tower that stacks 4.92 kWh battery modules under a single-phase inverter. Start with two modules and add more later without changing the inverter, up to six high.

  • 9.84–29.52 kWh in 4.92 kWh steps
  • Single-phase, floor-standing
  • Modules are EQ5000: 6,000-cycle LFP, IP65
  • Add capacity later without a new inverter

Suits: Larger homes, heat pump owners, and anyone who expects their electricity use to grow.

Fox UK warranty: Battery modules (EQ5000): 12 years or throughput cap, whichever first

Fox ESS MiniQube

MiniQube

Plug-in storage from 2.11 kWh

Fox's smallest system: a compact plug-in unit from 2.11 kWh up to 10.55 kWh. The simplest route into storing cheap-rate or solar electricity, with backup capability, and it suits flats and smaller homes where a full system is overkill.

  • 2.11–10.55 kWh
  • Plug-in installation
  • 90% depth of discharge
  • IP65, backup (EPS) function

Suits: Flats, small homes and first-time storage on a time-of-use tariff.

Warranty period: see Fox ESS UK policy — not stated per model in the current table.

Hybrid inverters

Fox ESS H1-G2 hybrid inverter

H1-G2 hybrid inverter

3, 3.7, 5 or 6 kW single-phase — with or without panels

The inverter for a conventional solar-plus-battery system. Two MPPT inputs for the panels, a battery port for EP or EQ packs, and an AC-coupled variant (AC1-G2) for adding storage to a solar system you already have.

  • 3 / 3.7 / 5 / 6 kW outputs
  • 2 MPPT inputs
  • Pairs with EP and EQ batteries
  • AC1-G2 variant for retrofit storage
  • IP65, backup (EPS) with a battery

Suits: New solar installs, or adding a battery to panels that are already on the roof.

Warranty period: see Fox ESS UK policy — not stated per model in the current table.

Fox ESS KH / KA series

KH / KA series

7 to 10 kW for larger single-phase arrays

Where a big roof or a heat pump pushes the numbers up: 7–10 kW single-phase output with three or four MPPT inputs, so awkward multi-aspect roofs like the ones we see on Merseyside semis can be split across separate strings.

  • 7 / 8 / 9 / 10 kW outputs
  • 3–4 MPPT inputs for multi-aspect roofs
  • Pairs with EP, EQ and CQ batteries
  • IP65, backup (EPS) with a battery

Suits: Large arrays, east–west or three-aspect roofs, homes with a heat pump or EV.

Warranty period: see Fox ESS UK policy — not stated per model in the current table.

Batteries

Fox ESS EP series batteries

EP series batteries

5.76 or 11.52 kWh, floor or wall

High-voltage LFP packs that mount on the floor or the wall. EP6 is 5.76 kWh and scales to 23.04 kWh; EP12 is 11.52 kWh and scales to 46.08 kWh. They pair with the H1-G2 and K series inverters.

  • EP6: 5.76 kWh, scalable to 23.04 kWh
  • EP12: 11.52 kWh, scalable to 46.08 kWh
  • Floor or wall mounting
  • LFP chemistry, IP65

Suits: Garages and utility rooms where wall space beats floor space.

Fox UK warranty: 10 years or the energy-throughput cap, whichever first

Fox ESS EQ series batteries

EQ series batteries

Stackable 4.66 or 4.92 kWh modules

Floor-standing modules that stack into a single column. EQ4800 modules are 4.66 kWh and scale to 41.93 kWh; EQ5000 modules are 4.92 kWh and scale to 29.52 kWh, rated for 6,000 cycles.

  • EQ4800: 4.66 kWh per module, to 41.93 kWh
  • EQ5000: 4.92 kWh per module, to 29.52 kWh
  • Stackable, no wall fixing
  • LFP, IP65, >95% round-trip efficiency

Suits: Homes that want to start small and add modules as bills or tariffs change.

Fox UK warranty: 12 years or the energy-throughput cap, whichever first

What Fox’s UK warranty actually says

Batteries

EQ series and Evo batteries: 12 years. EP series: 10 years. Each is or an energy-throughput cap, whichever comes first, with at least 70% of nominal energy retained.

Inverters

10 years as standard; 12 years for the PowerQ and Evo. The system must connect to Fox Cloud within 120 days of installation and stay connected, or the period drops to 5 years. We connect every system before we leave.

Conditions that matter

The warranty is void where the installation is not carried out to Fox’s requirements or where mixed-brand connectors are used. The claim is made through the installer, which is why who fits it matters as much as what is fitted.

These are Fox ESS’s terms, summarised from the UK & Ireland Battery Warranty Policy V4.5 and Inverter & Charger Warranty Policy V2.3. The policy documents govern; ask us for a copy with your quote.

Good to know

Common questions

Do I need solar panels to have a battery?

No. A battery on its own can charge from the grid at night on a cheap-rate tariff and run the house through the expensive hours, which is how a lot of Fox systems earn their keep in winter. The H1-G2 has an AC-coupled version for exactly this, and the MiniQube is designed for it. If you do have panels, the battery stores the daytime surplus you would otherwise export for a few pence a unit.

How big a battery do I need?

Usually smaller than people expect. A typical three-bed home uses 8 to 12 kWh a day, but only the part you would otherwise import at peak rate needs storing, and a solar surplus in winter is small. We size from your bills and, where you have solar, from what the array actually leaves unused. It is one of the reasons we favour the modular Fox ranges: you can add a module later once you have seen a year of real data.

Will it keep the lights on in a power cut?

The Evo, PowerQ and the H1-G2 or K series with a battery all have a backup (EPS) output, but it is not automatic on every circuit. At survey we agree which circuits matter — fridge, freezer, boiler, router, some lights — and wire those to the backup output. A whole-house backup gateway is available but is a separate piece of kit and a bigger job.

What is the warranty?

It is Fox ESS's warranty, not ours, and the terms are theirs. Under the UK battery policy, EQ series and Evo batteries are covered for 12 years and EP series for 10 years, or until an energy-throughput cap is reached, whichever comes first, with at least 70% of nominal energy retained. Inverters are covered for 10 years, or 12 for the PowerQ and Evo, on condition the system is connected to Fox Cloud within 120 days of installation and kept connected. We register and connect every system as part of the install.

Can a battery be fitted outside?

The Evo is IP66 rated and the EP, EQ and PowerQ units are IP65, so a sheltered external wall or a garage is fine. Batteries prefer not to freeze or bake, so we still choose the spot with care — north-facing and out of direct sun where we can.

Is there a grant for a home battery?

Not directly. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers heat pumps, not batteries. What has changed is VAT: battery storage is zero-rated whether it is fitted with solar or on its own, and that applies to the retrofit case too. Finance is available through Novuna on the same terms as the rest of our work.
